The starting point of this illustration was the OR room at Rochester General Hospital. I sketched the surgery directly in the OR room and based on that sketches, I reconstructed the surgical scene in order. Total knee arthroplasty is also known as Total Knee Replacement. This illustration realistically represents the instruments used in surgery. In this procedure, the distal part of the femur and the proximal part of the tibia are cut. The angle and the order of cutting are important. In a real operation, step 3 and 4 are repeated, measuring and cutting the size of the patient's bone to fit the device.
